Scope of Action
The IDH’s scope of action includes all matters relating to the
population’s civil, political, economic, social and cultural
rights. As a result, the IDH is especially concerned with
the observance of what are commonly understood as an
individual’s eight fundamental rights, which include the right
to life, security and integrity of person, liberty, the due
process of law, freedom of speech, freedom of movement and
residence, freedom of peaceful assembly and association, and
political rights. Similarly, the IDH is committed to
monitoring any social and public policy developments that may
affect the economic, social and cultural rights of the
population. These include each citizen’s right to a
nutritious diet, good health, education, decent employment
opportunities, social security and a clean environment, as well
as all rights prescribed by the International Covenants,
Declarations and Conventions to which Peru is a signatory member
under the sponsorship of the United Nations.
